Street Hebrew is committed to making the Site (streethebrew.com) accessible to all visitors, including people with disabilities. This statement explains the accessibility level we aim for, the steps we have taken, known limitations, and how to give us feedback.
1. Accessibility commitment
We aim to comply with WCAG 2.1 Level AA as referenced by the Israeli Standard SI 5568. Accessibility is treated as an ongoing process rather than a one-off project.
2. What we have done
- Semantic HTML throughout (proper headings, landmarks, and lists)
- Visible “Skip to content” link for keyboard users
- Sufficient colour contrast between text and background
- All interactive elements (buttons, links, menus) reachable and operable by keyboard
- Visible focus styles on all focusable elements
- ARIA labels on icons and decorative buttons
- Descriptive
alttext on content images; decorative images marked as decorative - Form fields paired with explicit labels and clear validation messages
- Native HTML
<details>/<summary>for collapsible content (FAQ block) — keyboard accessible by default - Respect for the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query - Responsive layout that works at common screen sizes and high zoom levels
3. Accessibility tools available on the Site
The Site includes an accessibility tool that lets you adjust the experience to your needs — for example by changing text size, contrast, spacing, or navigation behaviour. Look for the accessibility icon in the corner of the screen to open it.
4. Known limitations
Despite our best efforts, some areas of the Site may not yet be fully accessible. Specifically:
- Embedded third-party content (e.g. Google Maps on the Contacts page) may not meet the same accessibility level as the rest of the Site
- Older blog posts or media uploaded before this statement was published may not meet all current standards
We continue to review and improve these areas.
5. Compatibility
The Site is designed to work with current versions of the following:
- Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge browsers
- Common screen readers including VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS
- Mobile devices running iOS 14+ or Android 9+
6. Feedback & contact
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on the Site or have a suggestion for improvement, we want to hear from you. Please contact:
- Accessibility coordinator: Addam Corré
- Email: addamcorre@gmail.com
- Phone: 054 975 3987
We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 14 days and to resolve reported issues as quickly as practical.
7. Statement updates
This statement is reviewed periodically and after any major change to the Site. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent review.
